About Me

Adam Elliott is a New York City–based filmmaker, producer, and festival strategist whose work has screened across the United States and internationally at festivals including Tribeca Festival, Rooftop Films, Indy Shorts, HollyShorts, Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, and Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia. His filmmaking experience spans narrative comedy, drama, documentary, and comedy web series. He has also produced narrative and documentary work for other filmmakers.

His directorial debut, the short documentary David Again, made its New York premiere at Tribeca Festival in 2024 and its international premiere at Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia, where it received a Special Jury Mention. His follow-up documentary, A Pocket Guide to Pigeon Watching, based on the book by Rosemary Mosco, premiered at Rooftop Films in 2026 and continued its festival run across the United States and internationally.

Adam also has extensive experience on the other side of the submission process. Since 2020, he has served on the awards jury for the Inwood Film Festival, an annual celebration of filmmakers and films connected to New York City’s uptown community. He has served as both a screener and Short Documentary Jury member for Salute Your Shorts Film Festival, a Los Angeles festival dedicated exclusively to short-form filmmaking. He has served as a screener for ReelAbilities Film Festival: New York, which champions disability representation and accessibility in film, as well as for Project UnLonely Films, an initiative of The Foundation for Art and Healing that curates short films exploring loneliness, connection, and belonging.

His nonprofit work has focused on supporting artists and filmmakers. He currently serves on the board of the Shawn Regruto Cinematic Foundation, a nonprofit supporting New York independent filmmakers through grants, mentorship, and community-building. Adam is also a two-time recipient of the Inwood Art Works Filmmaker Fund Award, supporting the production of his short films A Best Man and A Pocket Guide to Pigeon Watching. He previously founded the Harv Toback Fund for the Arts, which raised $30,000 to establish a three-year creative arts therapy fellowship at Mount Sinai’s Kravis Children’s Hospital.

“Adam has an exceptional knowledge of film festivals, both nationally and internationally. He has a real understanding of how to target festivals strategically and realistically, while always keeping sight of your ambitions as a filmmaker. I see Adam as a kind of creative matchmaker: he can watch a film and instinctively know where it will feel most at home, while also understanding how a filmmaker can find their community. His insight, experience and genuine passion for connecting films with the right audiences make him an invaluable resource for any filmmaker.”
